When trying to qualify for bulk-mail First Class and Marketing Mail discounts, it’s required that a USPS approved Move Update is performed within 95 days before the mailing date. Ancillary Service Endorsements provide the Postal Service with instructions on how to handle your mail if it’s UAA (undeliverable as addressed). Any mailer may use one of four move update compliant Ancillary Service Endorsements to request a notification of the addressee’s new address.
Mailers may use the following endorsements with First-Class Mail, USPS Marketing Mail, and Parcel Select Lightweight service to initiate this updating method:
As outlined by the USPS:
First-Class Mail is forwarded to the new address and returned to you (if undeliverable), free of charge. You can use an ancillary service endorsement to change how the USPS treats your First-Class Mail. Since undeliverable USPS Marketing Mail that doesn't have an endorsement is disposed of by the Postal Service, it’s important to make sure that your address list is correct and current to help you avoid any issues.
