DSF2 – Delivery Sequence File

Mailing lists? Sharpened. Mailings? Targeted. Postal Discounts? Maximized. The DSF2 file contains every USPS® deliverable address in the U.S., which adds up to over 165 million records. DSF2 sorts mail into walk sequence order. This means the mail is sorted for the mail carrier to optimize delivery– saving the Postal Service™ time and qualifying you for postal discounts such as Enhanced Carrier Route (ECR), Basic, High Density, or Saturation. DSF2 is available through our Service Bureau with fast turnarounds. It also identifies if delivery is to a curb mailbox, door slot, or commercial mail receiving agency (CRMA).

  • Get the highest level of verified addresses to speed postal processing
  • Achieve maximum postal discounts to save on costs
  • Better target your mailings by distinguishing addresses as business or residential
Delivery Sequence File - Qualify for the Postage Discounts

Who Benefits from DSF2

  • Saturation Mailers
Large, concentrated mailings will qualify you for postal discounts, reducing costs and maximizing revenue.

  • Special Interest Mailers
Appended delivery points give you specific information for your mailing list such as business/residential, seasonal address, drop point flag and number of addresses associated with that drop point; CRMA; and P.O. Box Delivery Only.

  • Mailers concerned about deliverability
DSF2 deliverability codes will help predict the deliverability of the addresses in your list. If your addresses don’t match the DSF2 file, they are likely to contain errors.

How it Works

The first step is the processing of your mailing list through CASS™; the USPS certification process for ZIP + 4® matching software. This applies ZIP + 4 codes, carrier route codes, and delivery point; standardizes addresses, and corrects/verifies ZIP® codes. Next, your address information is matched to the DSF2 database. DSF2 uses individual delivery points to match address information while ZIP + 4 processing matches addresses in ranges.

DSF2 processing will return a pseudo code to sort your files and will then update your list(s) by identifying known addresses and specific address attributes: If the address is vacant, residential, business, or seasonal. Then, it returns a flag to designate each record matched. It also identifies whether a ZIP + 4 address is currently represented in the USPS delivery sequence file as a known address record. DSF2 includes DPV®, LACSLink®, and SuiteLink® processing.
